Free Computer Time and Faxing Services for Job Seekers

Brentwood, California (November 1, 2011) – Great news for job seekers! Now through January 1st, 2012, Maria Asuncion, owner of the PostalAnnex+ in the Balfour Village Shopping Center, is offering free computer time and faxing services to job seekers.  Those looking for work have access to computers for conducting job searches, checking email, writing resumes, and posting resumes.  Asuncion is also offering to fax resumes for free to prospective employers.

 “Not everyone has access to a computer, the Internet, or a fax machine, so we want to offer our services in the hopes that we can help out local residents,” said Asuncion.  The Brentwood community has supported us, and we are excited to have an opportunity to give back.”

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, in August 2011 the unemployment rate in Contra Costa County was 10.6 percent with 54,689 people unemployed.  While the unemployment rate has declined slightly in the county, the job market is still very competitive.  As an employer, Asuncion offers some tips for job seekers: “Google yourself to see what comes up in the search results, and check your social media for potentially embarrassing content,” says Asuncion.  “Also, be truthful when writing your resume.  Potential employers can tell when the truth is being bent.”
