Owned and operated by locals Suzanne and Jacob Schaffner, EscoGelto was established in 2012 with the goal of becoming a place to gather with friends and family. The café/gelato shop has quickly become popular with the Escondido community and surrounding areas, and in 2013, they came in fourth place on the San Diego’s Best U-T Readers Poll.
What makes EscoGelato stand out is their family friendly environment and excellent gelato. Each day, the shop makes their gelato from high quality ingredients, many of which are sourced from local farmers, ensuring fresh, creamy gelato with amazing flavor. Escondido locals can choose from 18 different gelato and sorbet flavors in traditional Italian flavors like pistachio, limoncello, and gianduja. For those who are more adventurous, there are unique flavors like honey lavender, almond fig, or sour cream brown sugar. The flavors change daily, so there is always something new and exciting to try. Pints are available for purchase, so if you have a flavor that you particularly like, you can take it home with you.
While they may be known for their gelato, EscoGelato also serves gourmet coffee, salads, paninis, baked goods, oatmeal, and more. The coffee beans are purchased from local coffee roaster Zumbar, and customers will be able to taste the difference in freshness and quality. Once you’ve had a chance to try the coffee and fall in love with it, you can purchase beans to take home with you.

While you may not be able to send some to far away friends and family, if you want to share a little taste of the awesomeness that is EscoGelato, pick up some of the Zumbar coffee beans.
