Monument, CO locals have another chocolate shop to tantalize their taste buds.  1492 Chocolates, a gourmet chocolate shop, creates unique truffles developed to reflect the tastes of each state in America.  For example, the shop makes a Key Lime truffle to represent Florida, a Cheerwine truffle to reflect North Carolina, and a Trail Mix truffle for Colorado.  Seasonal chocolates, like peppermint bark and peanut butter romance hearts, are also available.  Be on the lookout for the Saint Patrick’s Day collection, which is coming out soon.

Established in 2013, 1492 Chocolates is a family owned and operated business in Monument, CO.  The youngest daughter of the family, Courtney Lundin, is the shop’s chocolate artisan, making the chocolates by hand and developing new flavors.  Educated at Le Cordon Bleu Culinary College, Courtney has worked in world renowned resorts and specialty wedding boutiques, developing her pastry and chocolate confectionery skills.

Even though the shop is still relatively new, 1492 Chocolates has been establishing themselves as a force to be reckoned with. Their chocolates won awards at the Broadmoor's Holiday Chocolate Festival 2013.  In addition, they were recently nominated for “Best Truffle” in The Gazette’s Best of the Springs.
