As a professional caddie, Bud leads an active lifestyle and has tried many different types of jerky, none with with the flavor and texture he wanted. Crystal decided to solve the problem by making some for him, and, after some experimentation, she developed the "Original" Pepper Steak Jerky. Bud loved it and starting bringing it to work with him, where is became a hit with his coworkers and clients. Given the popularity of the jerky, Crystal began developing other flavors of jerky with the goal of being able to start their own business. During Christmas 2013, she surprised Bud with the new flavors, packaged with the new Hole In One Jerky logo. In October 2014, the couple officially launched the business with their Grand Opening event.
