Next Friday is Black Friday, one of the biggest shopping days of the year.  With all the great deals the stores are offering, it’s a great opportunity to take care of some holiday shopping in advance.  With many people having friends and family spread throughout the world, those gifts will also need to be shipped.  In preparation for the season, we’ve compiled answers to a list of some of your most frequently asked questions about holiday shipping:

Q. I’m planning on doing some holiday shopping during Black Friday.  Is there anything I should be aware of because of restrictions on shipping?

A. Yes, perfume, tobacco products, fireworks, and many products with Lithium batteries cannot be shipped.

Q.  Can I ship wine?

A. Yes, but only through a shipper with a special license for shipping wine.  Many PostalAnnex locations are approved to ship wine, have the right supplies to properly package your wine, and know the various state restrictions for shipping alcohol.  Give the one nearest you a call for more details about how they can help.

Q.  Some of my gifts are fragile, and I’m worried about them arriving in one piece.  Do you have any packaging suggestions?

A. We recommend using a new box and packing your items with bubble packaging and packing peanuts.  Old shipping cartons are more likely to collapse or bread apart during shipping.  Filling all empty spaces packing peanuts can help prevent the carton flaps from caving in.  Remember, the staff at PostalAnnex can package your items for you if you feel more comfortable having a professional pack your gifts.

Q.  The holidays are really busy for me.  Will you have extended hours so I can take care of shipping at my convenience?

A.  Most PostalAnnex locations extend their hours during the holidays.  Call the location you wish to visit for more details about their expanded holiday hours.  You can find any PostalAnnex location by visiting PostalAnnex.com/locations.

Q.  What are the last days I can ship my gifts in order to ensure delivery by Christmas?

A.  Most carriers are listing the final day to ship coast-to-coast as December 18, 2014.  Stay tuned next week for detailed calendar of last-minute shipping deadlines.  Remember, weather delays can affect delivery times, so you might want to consider shipping sooner than the deadline.
