The founder, Anne Winstead, worked for a local bakery and took interest in opening her own shop, and thus was born Anne’s Donuts. Specializing in donuts made the old fashioned way, Anne’s Donuts deep-fries fresh dough to create a warm, crispy melt-in-your-mouth donut. In 1988, Anne passed the donut-making-torch on to Sharon Bridgers, who continues the tradition of making delicious donuts for Rocky Mount locals.
When Sharon took over as head baker in 1988, she expanded the baked goods to include tasty treats like cakes, brownies and cookies. Even with the changes at Anne’s Donuts, Rocky Mount locals continue to enjoy classics like chocolate glazed donuts and donut holes. They can also snack on delicious filled donuts in flavors like Cream Cheese, Lemon, Strawberry, or Raspberry.
In 2010, Anne’s Donuts expanded to include a gift shop. Customers will find items like jewelry, watches, gift baskets and holiday decor.
