October 13, 2016

For many people, October comes with Halloween festivities, which for some, means seeking out the adrenaline rush of a spooky attraction. The Quilter’s Newsletter recently made reference to The Haunted Quilt of Poy Sippi, a patchwork quilt in Oshkosh, WI which, in 1963, was said to be haunted. The family who owned the quilt claimed it moved about the house on its own, was tugged off beds, and was at the center of other strange occurrences. On Halloween in 1963, a group of local women spent the night with the quilt to test the claims that it was haunted, but since nothing came of it, the myth slowly faded into local lore.

We’re a long ways away from Oshkosh in 1963, but if you’re thinking about trying your hand at making your own “haunted” quilt in Temecula, CA in 2016, a visit to Needle in a Fabric Stash may help.
