Recently opened in January 2014, Marlene’s Tea & Cakes is a locally owned and operated tea house specializing in hosting high teas, events, and more. In addition to high tea, Marlene’s offers a variety of beautiful, delicious baked goods like cakes, cupcakes, and cookies.
High tea is a relaxing way to enjoy the afternoon or celebrate a special occasion. Each month, Marlene prepares a different menu, so there is always something new and seasonal to enjoy. This month’s menu features unique delights including peach and brie sandwiches, mini-beef wellington, and blueberry cream scones. As a San Diegan, Marlene works to support the local community that she and her business is a part of. The menu is crafted with produce purchased at local farmers markets and bread from a local baker. The coffee served comes from Ryan Brothers Coffee, a local roasting company. In addition, 5 percent of the proceeds from cupcakes are donated to Willow Grove Educational Foundation, a local organization that helps fund programs at Willow Grove Elementary that would have been discontinued due to budget cuts.
