Deciding not to let her age limit her, Emily tapped into her passion for entrepreneurship, arts and crafts and opened her own boutique shop, Our Favorite Things. While some people may think she’s a bit young to be an entrepreneur, this aspiring business major, with the help of her family, saw her dream become a reality in June 2012.
Tucked inside a courtyard on Girard Avenue in La Jolla, Our Favorite Things is a small boutique that offers items handcrafted by Emily, her grandmother, mom and sister. La Jolla locals can visit the little boutique to find unique scarves, headbands, hair accessories, pet clothes, and jewelry. Alongside her own handmade merchandise, Emily also offers items from other local La Jolla artisans like vintage clothing, handmade journals, custom jewelry and more. By offering handmade items, Emily hopes her customers will be able to purchase truly unique designs that won’t be found elsewhere.
As she lives her dream, Emily has not forgotten about those who are less fortunate, so she donates a portion of each sale to charities and works with non-profit organizations.
