For those living the city life, it can be difficult to visualize where the food on their table comes from.  However, thanks to Amy’s Farm, Ontario locals can visit a real working polyculture farm.  Open year round, Amy’s Farm, a non-profit organization, offers hands-on, guided group tours to students of all ages. Local Ontario students who get to tour Amy’s Farm will have the unique experience of seeing the way the gardens and animals exist together in an ecosystem.  Note that reservations are required for the guided tours.

Amy’s Farm also offers a variety of fun and educational classes.  The next class, a Wood Working Workshop, is coming up on November 9th at 11am.  Participants will assemble and paint hand cut wood pieces to make a turkey sign for Thanksgiving.  The class is open to all ages, and participants can enjoy a self-guided visit of the farm before or after the workshop.  For more details about the various classes and workshops available, visit the Amy’s Farm website.

Along with participating in the tours and classes, Ontario locals will want to visit the Farmstand at Amy’s Farm for fresh, seasonal fruits and vegetables.  Those who stop by the Farmstand can also visit the farm to see what is growing and visit the animals.  Check the Amy’s Farm blog for a list of available fruits and vegetables.

After visiting the farm, if you need to take care of any holiday shipping, visit the Ontario PostalAnnex for UPS and FedEx shipping services.  The friendly professionals can even compare shipping rates to find the best rate and service for shipping your packages.
